NoNoise is a personal archive of anti-graffiti painting in my home town Florence. Since I was young I was interested in graffiti and doing poster art, so I was very sensitive about visual communication on the walls. I started to notice and catalog with my analog camera the covering over of graffiti in the streets. Over the years I continued to be surprised and fascinated by the creative power those patches. In today’s Florence the strong and justified tendency to preserve its artistic riches, translates into an attempt at total control of the urban aesthetic. The covering over of graffiti in the urban space are transformed into a new mural work, into a new layer of communication. In this way photography becomes an instrument for the construction of a personal imagination in the context of the visual conflicts of the contemporary city. A way to give new voices to those silent patches.
