Il senso dei luoghi nasce nel 2021, quando il nostro collettivo raccoglie l’invito del Comune di Figline e Incisa Valdarno a realizzare una documentazione del proprio territorio. Il progetto è stato realizzato tra ottobre 2021 e agosto 2022, un lavoro a lungo termine che ci ha permesso di approfondire il rapporto con il tessuto sociale della comunità e quello naturale e urbano del territorio, dando voce ad un dialogo tra l’elemento umano e quello paesaggistico.

La nostra ricerca si è incentrato su quattro grandi aree tematiche: i giovani e la scuola, il lavoro, la cultura e il tempo libero, la spiritualità, raccontando la normalità del quotidiano, tessendo un mosaico che vuole restituire innanzitutto a coloro che queste terre abitano e custodiscono, l’immagine di un luogo che ha ispirato e guidato i nostri sguardi attraverso il susseguirsi del tempo e delle stagioni.

Come scrive Giovanna Calvenzi, curatrice del progetto, "Le persone sono quasi sempre consapevolmente coinvolte, lo sguardo in macchina, la serenità del sapere che prestano la loro immagine per raccontare la loro città, le attività che vi si svolgono. Sanno di essere protagoniste e protagonisti di immagini destinate a restare, a entrare nella storia di Figline e Incisa Valdarno e, come vuole il titolo del volume, a dare con la loro presenza nella formidabile trascrizione dei TerraProject, un senso ai luoghi.".

The project “The sense of places” is an invitation by the Municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno to document their territory between October 2021 and August 2022. This long-term project allowed us to deepen the relationship with the community and the natural and urban texture, giving voice to a dialogue between the human element and the landscape.

Our research focused on four major thematic areas: youth and education, work, culture and past-time, spirituality, telling the normality of everyday life, weaving a mosaic that wants to give back, first of all to those who live an preserve this territory. the image of a place that has inspired and guided our vision through the succession of time and seasons.

As Giovanna Calvenzi, curator of the project, writes, “Subjects are almost always posing, their gaze in the camera, the serenity of knowing that they lend their image to tell about their city, the activities that take place there. They know they are part of images destined to enter the history of Figline and Incisa Valdarno and, as the title of the volume wants, to give with their presence in the formidable transcription of TerraProjects, a sense of places ".

The project is accompanied by an exhibition and a catalog.
